About the artist · Chicago

I'm Lee Wilkins, and I draw silly things carefully.

Coloured-pencil drawings, hand-rolled paper quilling, and whatever else an idea turns out to need — made by hand in Chicago, usually with a joke hidden somewhere in them.

01 The long version

How I got here.

I'm Lee Wilkins, an artist based in Chicago. I work mostly in coloured pencil — layered by hand until it glows — and in paper: quilling, rolling hundreds of tiny coils into shapes and words, and cut and torn collage when a piece wants building rather than drawing. The drawings lean affectionate and absurd: a rubber duck with a temper, a beloved London pie shop, two dogs and one contested ball.

[Your story goes here — where you studied, how you started, what pulls you toward a subject. Give me a few real details and I'll write this up properly.]

The rule is simple: if a piece makes me laugh, it's finished. If it makes me laugh and slightly wince, it's ready to sell.

Anything that's for sale is sold directly — no gallery, no middleman. Prints are made to order in a few sizes; every original is one of one. If you'd like something made specially, the commission page explains how that works.

02 The studio

Where it happens.

A home studio in Chicago — good light, a big desk, and far too many coloured pencils worn down to stubs. [Tell me about your real space and I'll write this properly.]

Paper coils, mid-quill.
The quiet corner.
